For the past few years, I've always bought Blackberry smartphones due to wanting a proper QWERTY keyboard and my dislike of unresponsive touchscreen devices caused by previous bad experience. Finally this year, I decided to change and buy an iPhone because of constant problems with Blackberries crashing and becoming slow. As I have purchased a few apple products in the past, I had high expectations of the iPhone - it surpassed them all! Although I thought the touchscreen would be an issue, the on-screen keyboard and responsive screen mean that I have no problems with using it, and prefer it to a traditional keypad now!
I decided to get the 32GB model due to wanting to use the phone as a replacement to my iPod which had recently broken, and have found that the storage is well suited to my needs e.g. quite a few apps and around (2000 songs). However, if you have much more than that I would reccomend getting the 64GB version as once you choose the amount of memory you are stuck with it as it cannot be expanded through external memory cards much like other phones can.
The phone has all the features you would expect of a modern smart phone, along with some others that you may not think you need but will end up using constantly e.g. the popular 'Maps' app. Making calls is quick and easy, and the sound quality is great i.e. no crackling. Messages (the app for sending texts etc.) is also straightforward, and the addition of the conversation style view, where it shows all messages to and from a person in one screen, means it is quick to see what has been sent and recieved. Moreover, the integrated 'iMessage' allows you to send free messages to other iPhone and ipad users, saving you money!
The 8MP camera is one of the best I have used, and it even easily compares to basic digital cameras (with the same features you would expect e.g. flash, manal focussing where you can choose what to focus on). However, at night the picture quality does become slightly less and the images often appear grainy.
Siri is also a great addition to the features found on the iPhone 4, the predecessor to the iPhone 4s. Using Siri makes it easier to find things on the phone, and can tell you a variety of things by searching the web for you so you don't have to. It can also do things like search for nearby restaurants, and even tell you the latest sports scores!
The app store also makes this phone a clear stand out in the market, with a very wide range of apps and something suitable for everyone! With many free apps, you can extend what your phone can do with no additional cost and personalise it so it fulfills your own needs. The app store is constantly being updated too so the possibilities of what you can download expand greatly each time you use it!
One down side of the iPhone to me is the relatively quick battery drain compared to other smart phones. On an average days use for me, the battery can go from 100% to 0% in as little time as 12 hours, which can be very impractical if there are no charging facilities available. Compared to a Blackberry, this is very short as mine could often go a whole day without needing to be charged.
With this issue, and even though the price does seem quite high, I truly think you get good value for money when you buy an iPhone 4s, and would definitely reccomend this phone to anyone.
